Now a Holland based designer, Nacho Carbonell Ivars innitially studied Industrial design at CEU University in his home town of Valencia, Spain. His successful graduation from this school led him to travel and live in the USA and then Mexico, in search of experience. The technical background acquired by him throughout his studies did not satisfy him, and in the search of a new perspective he joined the Dutch Design Academy in Eindhoven. His experience in this school allowed his design vision to mature, with a successful graduation with Cum Laude honours. His first projects, Pump it Up and Evolution, (Design of the year nominate 2009, Design Museum London) established him as a young talent, following numerous publications and awards such as his nomination to the Designer of the Future by the DesignMiami fair in 2009. With the use of hand crafted recycled papers, corn seeds, broken glass, rusted metal and others, Carbonell's design is highly recognisable and remains a strong force in contemporary limited edition design.
